Favourite Ice Age Animal: Jefferson Ground Sloth
Christine has called Yukon home for the last 10 years. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental Conservation Science at Yukon College.
The past few summers she has worked for Wildland Fire as a dispatcher in both Yukon and Alberta, which explains some of her passion for wildland fire ecology, and of course, trees! This passion is even reflected in her sense of style – check out her fiery hair! Actually, we are not sure if this was intentional or not (you should ask her!), but it makes it easy to pick her out in a crowd.
Her favourite ice age animal is the Jefferson Ground Sloth, which in the Yukon, lived during a warmer interglacial period. Interestingly, it fed on one of Christine’s favourite things – trees! You can often hear her joke with visitors, “like me, they’re addicted to trees -- only thing is – I just research them.”
Her love of people and passion for science is why she loves working at Beringia Centre.
Please contact Christine if you have any questions about the Centre’s interpretive programs, or if you would like to book a tour.
