Favourite Ice Age Animal: Steppe Bison

The Steppe Bison, a possible ancestor of today's plains and wood bison is Elise's favourite because she worked at Elk Island National Park in Alberta where bison still flourish.

Elise joined the Beringia team in the summer of 2018 after she retired from a four-decade career with Parks Canada where she worked as an environmental educator, interpretive naturalist, education specialist and most recently, as the External Relations Manager for the Yukon Field Unit. Elise has lived and worked in all three northern territories as well as half her career in the Alberta Rockies. Elise has a geography degree from McGill University and an education degree from the University of Alberta. She is an avid backcountry hiker, kayaker and skier. She believes in lifelong learning and is happy to be -expanding her knowledge and experience -working both as a substitute school teacher and Beringia Centre interpretive guide.

Please contact Elise if you have any questions about the centre’s interpretive programs or if you would like to book a tour.
