BCST - A Tale of Three Cats

Beringia Centre Science Talks (#BCST) are back for a fourth season! Join us as we explore fascinating topics in #archaeology, #naturalscience, and #palaeontology.

This week, we're joined by Dr. Mairin Balisi to discuss Ice Age felines.

Cats and cat-like animals have a long and complex history in the fossil record. In this presentation, Dr. Balisi will reconstruct the ecology and behavior of three cats from the late Pleistocene (the last Ice Age) of southern California, USA--saber-tooth cats, bobcats, and mountain lions--using a bevy of techniques ranging from paleopathology to biogeochemistry, with implications for modern-day ecosystems.
